Playmaking Volume 4: A New Hope

@RK_Stimp has a passing project that tracks the first, second, and third assists to every shot attempt this season in the NHL. Using this data, I plan on investigating and creating many visuals over the coming weeks.

The first visual I made looked at the passing abilities (in relation to shot attempts) of Chicago’s defense this season at even strength.

Then I looked at the same quality from the Blackhawks forwards in my second visual.

Now, instead of assists on shot attempts, I will look at passes that led directly to scoring chances.

Here is a simple visual to show how the defensemen ranked from best to worst utilizing the passing data for this post. Remember, this isn’t a ranking of the defensemen overall, but rather a ranking of their playmaking ability. This is looking mostly at the offensive side of the game.
